About birth photography
A documentary style of photography showing the story of your labour, birth and postnatal moments at one of the most incredible times of your life.
Discreet and un-posed, I capture the pure magic and raw emotion of childbirth.
It is extremely important for me to be unobtrusive and hold the sanctity of the birthing space foremost in my work. My intention is that you can be totally present in the moment, while fully confident that I will do justice to your incredible and unique story. What an amazing thing to know that your child will one day be able to see the joy on their mother’s face the moment they were born. My wish is for you to relive your journey through my photographs, this time seeing things you may have missed like, a partner’s supportive touch, a sibling’s reaction when they meet their new brother or sister, the love in mum’s eyes as she sees her baby for the first time.
How it works
On call from your 38th week until your baby arrives, 24 hours a day, I am ready to go as soon as your story begins.
Whether you are having a home birth or hospital delivery, in the relief of water or more at ease on a bed.
Full coverage of your birth journey begins once you are in active labour right up until 2 hours after your baby is safely delivered.
As a mum of two, I know how incredible and sacred this time can be. I will capture these cherished moments with sensitivity and trust.
My birth documentary service starts with a consultation during your pregnancy. We will discuss your birth plans and what you'd like to get from me. We can discuss the images you would like me to capture, and those you don't. I will endeavour to accommodate your requirements.
As you will be sharing one of the most important days of your life with me, we need to know we are compatible and relaxed in each other's company.
Within 12 hrs of your delivery you will receive an image you can use as your announcement photograph.
7-10 days later, I will send you your private online gallery with all the fully edited images displayed to view, download & share if you wish.
After you are happy with all the images you will receive a USB containing all the high res images for you to keep.
I can add on print and/or album packages if desired.
Your privacy is of upmost importance. I will never share any images to social media or my website without prior agreement and consent from you. I have been and am happy to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements. I have a full DBS check.
I only take on a maximum of 2 births a month so I'm able to give you the experience you should have in this the most exciting and treasured time of your life.

My Story
Having left school to work as an apprentice in a photographic studio and darkroom, I have over 20 years experience in the photographic industry.
After having a break from professional photography, working as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic and having our 2 children, I have established my own photographic business. I have been specialising in birth documentary for nearly 6 years. From the moment I captured my first birth I was hooked! I knew birth and motherhood photography was what I had to specialise in.
My documentary style of photography allows me to capture the story of labour and birth in a discreet and non-invasive way. This also leads into my more lifestyle maternity and newborn sessions. These are less posed sessions and more in keeping with the natural, documentary style that I specialise in.
